The sunrise over Bonifacio is dazzling this morning. We pack up and head north along the west coast of the island. I am so glad we saved Corsica for last, as the topography and forests are much more interesting than what we encountered in Sardinia. The views on today’s drive are amazing, and we make a photo stop at a particularly gorgeous bay before arriving in Propriano for lunch.
We hike along the shore to get some exercise before another amazing meal at the Hotel Bartaccia. Our three courses are shown here.
We continue north toward Ajaccio, stopping for the next two nights at a beautiful Radisson Blu in Porticcio. All of us get sea-facing rooms, from which we can see gathering storm clouds. Our resident meteorologist assures us that a cold front will pass through in the night, and we’ll have cooler weather tomorrow (although it has been perfect so far).
After settling into our rooms we drive to Porticcio and walk through the shopping and restaurant area of the beachfront, and then check out another beach nearby where a triathlon has just happened. But it doesn’t get much better than the long curving beach across the street from our hotel!
Dinner is at our hotel tonight: Ham with cantaloupe / veal stew with polenta / chocolate cake with red berry coulis and ice cream. Another wonderful day with entirely too much food!
