We make an excursion today around the bay to the city of Ajaccio, where Napoleon was born in 1769. He lived the first nine years of his life here, and his ancestral home is now a museum. In fact, Napoleon is everywhere–with statues, streets, and even the local airport named after him. We start with a panoramic tour of the city by coach, and then return to the port and walk through the local Sunday market to Napoleon’s birthplace. We continue through the town to the citadel and then take a break for lunch and personal exploration time. Forgive the abbreviated description of our day, but we have a very early departure in the morning by train to the mountainous interior. You will have a better idea of our day as you look at the photos.
